Fayetteville vs. Bentonville
I was asked by a little neighbor girl who has lived around the corner from us ever since we moved to Fayetteville in 2005 to come photograph her last basketball game of the season last night.
I take that back. She’s a high school freshman and is taller than me now, so maybe “little” isn’t such an accurate description for her anymore.
I watched her grow up from a tow headed little toddler at our neighborhood pool to who she is now: a beautiful young lady who has a remarkable talent on the basketball court and is just as sweet as she can be.
I haven’t shot a basketball game for a quite a while, and it was a lot of fun. Far different from the quiet woods and mountain bike trails with the sound of Maxxis tires whizzing past me filling in for the cheering of the crowds and the chants of the cheerleaders along the sidelines. The buzzers, the referees (one who asked me during a time out if I wanted to trade jobs with him), the student section, the proud parents . . . all of it so, so different, yet just as exhilarating and exciting as any day out on the trails.
Thank you, Caroline, for such a fun evening. I had a blast and . . . GO DAWGS!
